Three back-to-back double shifts this weekend, followed by an 8-hour on Monday… yeah, it’s giving no rest for the emotionally unstable.
But somehow, I lucked out—I’m covering the paradise unit today. My favorite. The vibes are just… different here. Less chaos, more control (well… controlled chaos). I’ll take my blessings where I can get them 👀.
I was able to grab a quick report from the nurse for the weekend, which already felt like a small miracle. So far, it’s been a smooth day—minus being short-handed (because why would we ever be fully staffed? Be serious 🙄). But the squad that is here? Top tier. Elite. The kind of team that makes you think, “okay… maybe we will survive this shift.”
This is just the beginning though… and if healthcare has taught me anything, it’s to never get too comfortable. The calm before the storm is real, and it loves to humble you real quick.
So for now, I’m soaking in the peace, doing my rounds, and keeping one eye on the residents… and the other on whatever chaos is lurking around the corner 👀.
Because you already know—it’s coming.
