Saturday is here again 🙌
A great way to start the weekend is knowing you have a solid team behind you — and this weekend, that’s exactly the case. Working with people you can truly depend on changes everything. In nursing, when you’ve got your “dream team,” the shift just flows. Things get done, stress feels lighter, and you know you’ve got each other.
I knew going into this weekend it was going to be a long one — two doubles, not leaving until 11pm both nights — but having the right people around you makes all the difference.
And now… it’s the end of the weekend.
Two doubles later, and we made it.
Also — full moon? Yeah… it’s real. People who don’t work in healthcare might not believe it, but that’s only because they’re not in it. The behaviors this weekend definitely proved it.
Saturday was actually pretty calm, which almost felt like a setup. Because Sunday? A whole different story.
One resident refused care — everything and anything. Another had behaviors and ended up hitting someone. Moments like that remind you just how unpredictable this job can be. You walk in never really knowing what kind of shift you’re about to have.
But even in the middle of all that, there were still good moments.
We got some residents outside to the patio — and it was honestly a beautiful day. Nice breeze, a little sunshine, a few residents even napped out there. Those quiet moments? They matter more than people realize.
And at the end of it all, the best part of this weekend wasn’t that we made it through the chaos — it was the team.
The people you work with who bring out the best in you, who step in without being asked, who help carry the load when things get heavy — that’s what makes the difference. That’s what creates a good shift, even when everything else feels like it’s falling apart.
We were definitely in the trenches this weekend, but the squad showed up. Everyone was on point, and it made those double shifts manageable.
Because at the end of the day, in this kind of work, it’s not just about getting through the shift — it’s about who you’re getting through it with.
