Iāve officially completed my third doubleā¦
and somehowā
this one was surprisingly calm.
Everything just⦠flowed.
Nothing out of the ordinary,
No major chaos
No alarms going off nonstop
No beds or chairs screaming for attention
No running room to room trying to put out fires
It was just⦠steady.
The healthcare gods were definitely on my side this weekendā
because letās be real, it couldāve gone very differently š
And Iāll take that kind of break any day.
Now letās talk about the part that doesnāt get easierā
Working doubles back-to-back means
you donāt just clock out and go home.
You have to hand off your keys
give report
wait for the next nurse
IYKYK.
The last two nights, I didnāt leave until 11:30 PM
just to turn around and be back at 7 AM
And let me tell youā
getting up that last morning?
Rough doesnāt even cover it.
Thankfully, my supervisor stepped in one of those nights
and took my keys
(and ended up staying overnight)
He was not a happy camperā¦
but he knew I had to be back in the morning
And that kind of support?
It makes a difference.
Overall, thoughāthis stretch?
It was a good one.
Maybe it was that postāfull moon energy finally settling down š
or maybe I just got lucky
Either way, Iām grateful.
Now donāt get it twistedā
It wasnāt perfect.
We still had our moments:
restlessness
pacing
a few panic attacks
and yesā¦
a family member letting out residents š
But nothing I couldnāt handle.
And honestly?
In this line of work,
that counts as a win.
Now here I amā
Back again for an 8-hour shift
to close out the week
and the best part?
Iām on the paradise unit.
Winning.
