Good morning!
One more shift to go today—and thankfully, it’s just an 8-hour shift on the Paradise Unit to finish out my work week.
No doubles this weekend.
And honestly?
That was a plus. 🙌🏽
It was actually nice leaving work while there was still some sunlight outside and, even better, not having to deal with the evening shift and all the sundowning that can come with it.
I’ll take the little wins where I can get them. 😂
Overall, this weekend went well.
Actually… the last few weekends have gone pretty well.
Like… suspiciously well. 👀
Things have been pretty chill, which in long-term care is a rare and beautiful thing.
No major chaos.
No constant running around.
No feeling like the entire unit needs something at the exact same time.
Just… good weekends.
And I am VERY happy about it.
But now that I’ve said that out loud…
I feel like I may have just jinxed myself.
Because that’s how this works, right?
You say, “Wow, things have been really calm lately.”
And then healthcare says:
“Oh really? Hold my coffee.” 😂
So I’m knocking on wood as I type this in the hopes that next weekend is just as chill.
Please, healthcare gods.
We’ve been good.
Let’s keep it that way. 🙏🏽
And then came the Paradise Unit.
Shift over.
And once again…
Paradise Unit FTW. 🙌🏽
Everything went by so quickly and, honestly, the shift was just as chill as the rest of the weekend.
Smooth sailing.
Again.
At this point, I think we can officially say this is the easy unit. 😂
Everyone knows it.
And honestly? I really like this squad.
I like the residents.
There is so much personality on this unit. There’s singing, dancing, laughing, joking around and just a lot of fun happening throughout the day.
Of course, there’s a little agitation sprinkled in there because… dementia care. 😅
But even that somehow turns into more laughter sometimes.
And that’s what I love about this unit.
The laughter isn’t just between staff and residents.
It’s everyone together.
It makes the work feel lighter.
So…
That’s a wrap.
Another work week completed. ✔️
And now I’m officially off for the next FOUR DAYS. 🙌🏽
Of course, I say I’m off and immediately have a list of things to do.
I need to get my tattoo touched up, laundry needs to happen because apparently it never ends, and little man is having a sleepover on Wednesday.
So this four-day break is already looking pretty fun-filled.
Maybe not exactly doing nothing…
but definitely a good kind of busy.
For now?
I’m signing off.
Paradise Unit: ✔️
Work week: ✔️
Four days off: LET’S GO. 😌
