The Healthcare Gods Heard Me Say “Smooth” 👀

Well…

I knew it was too good to be true. 😂

After my first overnight was almost suspiciously smooth, I should have known better than to get comfortable.

Second overnight.

And we have a fall.

😩😂

Thankfully, everyone is okay. Neuros have been started, things are being monitored, and now I’m waiting for med pass to come up.

And I’m not going to lie…

It definitely threw off the vibe a little.

Because nothing says “welcome back to the overnight” quite like a fall when you were starting to think, “Hey, I might actually have this down.” 😂

But honestly, this is exactly why I’m shadowing.

Tonight there are two nurses, which makes a huge difference. I’m able to see how things are handled without having every single responsibility fall on me at once.

And that’s actually been helpful.

I’m learning the rhythm.

I’m learning what overnight looks like when things don’t go exactly according to plan.

Because obviously, that’s nursing.

You can have the most beautiful, peaceful, uneventful shift…

and then one little thing happens and suddenly the whole vibe changes.

Overall, though, it’s still been a good night.

One fall doesn’t erase that.

Everyone is okay.
We’re doing what needs to be done.
I’m getting experience.
And I’m learning.

The first overnight showed me that I can do this.

The second overnight is reminding me that it won’t always be perfectly smooth—and that’s okay too.

Now I just need to make it through med pass and these last three hours.

Because at this point, there is only one thing standing between me and my pillow. 😂

THREE. MORE. HOURS.

Then I can finally go home, crawl into bed, and let my head hit that pillow. 😭

Overnight #2: still standing.

And maybe next time I’ll stop calling things smooth.

IYKYK. 👀
